Justice Works Conference: Min Wage, Decriminalize Marijuana, Ban Hydrofracking

Maddie-

Right now, New York is at the center of some of the most important political struggles in the country.

From the movement to raise the minimum wage, to the fight to decriminalize marijuana and ban hydrofracking, New Yorkers like you are working to make our vision for a more progressive world a reality.

On August 2nd and 3rd, we’re hosting Justice Works 2014 –it’s one of the most important events of the year for progressives to join together to learn, share, and strategize about how to keep fighting for justice – and I’m hoping that you’ll join us.

This year’s keynote speakers are two of the most amazing women in our country. Prepare to be challenged on everything you think about race, class and gender in America today.

Saturday we’ll be joined by Imani Perry, professor of African American Studies at Princeton and frequent media commentator, whose research focuses on race and African American culture.

Sunday, we’re turning it over to Ilyse Hogue, President of the NARAL Pro-Choice America, a leading voice on the war against women and expert in online organizing.

Justice Works is more than just a conference.

We’ve made sure that no matter your background or skill level, you’ll come away from this weekend with something you can take back and use to support the work you do in your community.

Over 20 interactive skills and issues workshops will delve into a diverse set of topics, from important discussions about the effects and challenges of structural racism in our work to how we can get the most out of social media during elections.

This is an amazing opportunity to learn and share the latest community organizing skills with other people who are doing the work right now!

Our fight for justice can get stronger only if we come together to prepare for the challenges ahead and celebrate the work that’s brought us this far.

Register today for Justice Works 2014. Be part of building a New York that works for all of us!

Thanks for all that you do,

Karen Scharff
