For this week’s theme I chose Space, we can explore our inner and outer space, our privacy or personal space, the space between two people, or spatial awareness/ distortions.
Being a longtime Dr. Who fan, I’ve admired the mysterious, somewhat spooky melody and all it’s incarnations. But my favorite had always been the original composition, which I felt was way ahead of it’s time.
Perhaps we are simply passengers of life, along for the ride on our mothership Earth…
Also Sprach Zarathustra, Op. 30 (Thus Spoke Zarathustra or Thus Spake Zarathustra) is a tone poem by Richard Strauss, composed in 1896 and inspired by Friedrich Nietzsche’s philosophical treatise of the same name.
Bach’s Orchestral Suite No.3 in D major, BWV 1068, movement II Air, transposed via software to 432Hz (from original 442Hz). Performed by The Philadelphia Orchestra.
Ubiquitous U2 songs address our inner dimension, none more so than “Love is Blindness”. This version nicely covered by Jack White for The Great Gatsby Soundtrack!
And of course the space between couples…
The Flower Duet, an aria from Léo Delibes‘ opera Lakmé, feel so airy, spacious and free- I just had to include it. 🙂

Thick dome of jasmine Blends with the rose, Bank in bloom, fresh morning, Call us together. Ah! Let’s glide along The fleeing current; On the rippling surface, With a nonchalant hand, Let’s go to the shore, Where the bird sings, the bird, the bird sings. Thick dome, white jasmine, Call us together! But, an eerie feeling of distress In order for him to be protected by Ganesh Yes, near the swans with wings of snow, Thick dome of jasmine |
‘Neath the dome, the jasmine To the roses comes greeting, By flower banks, fresh and bright, Come, and join we their meeting. Ah! we’ll glide with the tide, On we’ll ride away; Through wavelets shimm’ring brightly, Carelessly rowing lightly, Reach we the steeps Where the birds warble, warble, the birds sprightly. ‘Neath the dome rowers unite, Come and join we their meeting! But, why my heart’s swift terror invested, May the god, Ganesa, keep him from dangers, Yes, where the wild swans, those snowy wing’d strangers, ‘Neath the dome, jasmines white |
The whole discography of Pink Floyd may be considered Spacey Trippy, being so Comfortably Numb. If you’ve never heard of this Serbian band Gruhak, check ’em out, they’re quite excellent!
If you like kitschy space movies from the sixties, Barbarella’s theme was a blast – notable for Jane Fonda’s strip tease opening credits lol.
Being the sci-fi geek that I am, I must conclude with the classic theme to Star Trek. Bet you never heard this version, lyrics by Gene Roddenberry, intro to Star Trek: TOS.
Thx for listening, be sure to fly over & check out: Bear Lisa Johnny
