Real cops serve their community, we need to stress this

Houston Police Help the Homeless!

A police program in Houston is helping the homeless find housing.  Steve Wick is the Sergeant of Houston Police Department’s Homeless Outreach Program.  Steve and his team aim to help find homeless people housing and take time to show them that someone cares.  It seems like they are making a huge difference!

The Homeless Outreach Team is determined to make a difference in the lives of the homeless people in Houston.  When neighborhood complaints are received about the homeless, this team is taking a different response approach.  They are trying to help this community find a house, secure employment, and receive needed medical care.

The team started as a pilot program in 2011 and was made into a permanent program six months later.  The team consists of a sergeant, two police officers, and one mental health provider.
