On Wednesday night, controversial filmmaker Michael Moore made yet another mind-numbing prediction: He strongly suggested to late-night talk show host Seth Meyers that the Electoral College would deny President-elect Donald Trump a victory prior to his January 20th, 2017 inauguration. Moore previously stunned everyone by predicting Trump’s victory at a time when the analytics — and the political-media establishment — all favored Hillary Clinton.
There is a mechanism for what Moore is suggesting, however unlikely, and it exists within the Electoral College itself in the form of a decentralized, existential bunch of wonks. And, historically speaking, they have never actually asserted their power and changed a presidential election. They’re called ‘faithless electors,’ people nominated to represent the will of the people but who may, constitutionally speaking, revoke their duties. So far, there are seven ‘faithless electors’ who have defected from voting for Trump in the Electoral College. Count ‘em, seven — out of 270. That’s not a lot, obviously, but the mind balks at how quickly momentum could swing against a candidate that garnered over 2.5 million fewer votes than his challenger in the popular vote.
Here are three reasons why I believe Trump could, incredibly, still lose this election:
Trump has revealed himself to be fully in support of the establishment.
With his selections for pretty much the full gamut of cabinet positions, Trump has revealed himself to be an establishmentfigure, which is exactly the perception he ran against. Will his voters turn against him? Mostly no (or, at least, not yet). Will the other 74.5 percent of Americans who did not support him reject his victory? Possibly. Will this alone cause Trump to end up losing the vaunted Electoral College? No. Of course not! That’s why there are two more reasons.
Hillary won the popular vote by over 2.5 million.
This is fact. The number is actually growing. It’s historic; it’s actually disgusting if one is prone to be disgusted by electoral politics. Will this alone — or in conjunction with reason one — cause Trump to lose? No. Of course not! That’s why there’s one more, important, reason.
It can happen. The question is whether it can happen after the popular vote and before the inauguration, which, admittedly, is unheard of.
But here’s why I think it will happen. [And, to be clear, this is not because I support Hillary Clinton, though, frankly, she would be better for alternative media than Trump. Why? That’s for a future op-ed. Oh, it’s also because Trump is a tyrant who will likely pass more draconian laws against journalists than Bush and Obama combined.]
A scenario that could easily turn the election — and would constitute ‘stealing’ an election according to the Right (the same Right that despised Trump not two months ago) — involves the ‘faithless electors’ launching a coup. You don’t think coups happen in America? They happen a lot – you just don’t hear about them from the mainstream media that is instructed, not permitted, to neglect them.
One coup happened between 2000 and 2001, when one political party hatched a bright-eyed and bushy-tailed populist moderate candidate whose conservative establishment convinced the elites to use their embedded political operatives and hackers to electronically steal an election and then use a terrorist attack to embroil us in an endless war in the Middle East and legalize the Patriot Act.
Now it is possible the Dems and a rogue ‘faithless elector’ group are working on a similar pitch to steal this election and push through a candidate who will give us more endless war in the Middle East and legalize the TPP.
There are other ways, too, involving “false flag” assassinations and terrorist attacks on Washington that would induct COG (‘continuity of government’) schemes. But who’s got time for that…?
So, this is it, liberal America. Do you have the temerity to trigger a gun-toting Right revolution? Do you have the audacity to cajole a ‘faithless elector’ coup? Because — not that I’m endorsing it — that’s how you could steal this election.
A federal judge ruled late Wednesday night that the Michigan recount should immediately be halted. The judge noted that the recount was a waste of taxpayer money as there was no proof of fraud or mistakes presented by Jill Stein or the Green Party. US District Judge Mark Goldsmith noted that a “recount as an audit” of an election with no proof of fraud has never been endorsed by any court and that Michigan will be no exception. However, Recount 2016 leader Jill Stein says the ruling was “disheartening.”
CNN reports that a federal judge squashed all hopes of a Clinton presidency once and for all on Wednesday evening. Judge Mark Goldsmith ruled to uphold longstanding recount laws by denying Jill Stein a recount as a form of election audit. While Jill Stein is a Green Party advocate and leader, many Hillary Clinton supporters jumped on the Recount 2016 train on the hopes that Michigan, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania election results could be overturned, resulting in a Clinton presidency.
However, those dreams were crushed when the judge upheld the ruling that recounts should not be used to audit elections but rather are only used when state recount margins are met or when there is proof of voter fraud. Without proof that fraud took place, Judge Goldsmith said the courts could not uphold the recount and ordered all recount efforts to be halted.
“A recount as an audit of the election has never been endorsed by any court.”
During the Bush vs. Gore election, when the hanging chad became household talk, Florida courts adopted a highly unusual exception to the audit rule, something Michigan was not prepared to do given that they do not use punch systems and the election had already been audited and deemed too large of a margin for a mandatory recount. This ruling has not stopped Jill Stein from criticizing the election results.
“What we’re seeing is a national disgrace. We see that in Detroit, half of the votes were ineligible to recount because of antiquated state laws. Just as we were gearing up to discover something wrong going on, the court stopped us.”
Cobb notes that no voter fraud was uncovered in the recount process but says they campaign was “gearing up to discover something.” Stein herself took to Twitter to express her disappointment with the halting of the recount noting that while federal courts have stopped the process, the issue is still open in the “court of public opinion.”
Shutting down Michigan’s recount is disgraceful. We deserve an election system we can trust, that is fair, secure, and just! #Recount2016
Though Stein says her recount efforts were not an attempt to get Clinton elected, many Hillary Clinton supporters were hoping to piggy back off the efforts in a bid to see their candidate make her way to the White House. With Michigan’s ruling now made, there is no viable path for Clinton to secure the presidency. Even if Pennsylvania and Wisconsin both flipped to Clinton, she would still not have the 270 needed to secure the election.
Similarly, ABC News has noted that things do not appear to be changing in Wisconsin, where the recount is over 70 percent complete. Clinton has picked up just 82 votes in a state that Trump won by more than 22,000.
What do you think about the judge’s ruling that Michigan will not continue with the recount?
I’m sure Jill is disappointed. After all, she’s going to have to pay the tab for the recount instead of keeping the $7M+ she’s raised, for an ‘honest elections’ foundation I bet she’d planned on establishing to stay relevant.

Yep. It was to their advantage to halt it. All it was doing was uncovering more voter fraud in Democrat precincts. There was a reason that Hillary so graciously conceded in the early morning hours of November 9. And it wasn’t because she was gracious . . . by a long shot.

The PA recount hearing is tomorrow (I think the judge delayed it so Stein does have little time to appeal after being this being turned down too), not sure about the Florida lawsuit and of course this Russia hack stuff that they are now making up to discredit Trump.
Remember at first the Obama administration said there was no credible evidence of the Russians hacking voting machines and if the Russians had been hacking their way into helping Trump Obama would have said so much earlier.
He is playing games and once Trump takes office he should appoint some one to look deep into the politization of the FBI, CIA, IRS and all other agencies the Dems used to suppress the people who do not think like they do (Rudy!)!

If the Russians hacked into electoral systems in states that Trump won but Hillary SHOULD HAVE won, then how come there’s no irregularities exposed by these recounts? DID THE RUSSIANS INVADE OUR POLLING PLACES TOO?!!!!You think the media would ask this question? NO.
Let’s do a recount in ILL-ANNOY, except it needs to include an audit of voter registration records. The dead voters, the undocumented foreign voters, and the unregistered voters – if eliminated from the Crook County count – may have been the difference. ILL-ANNOY might have gone RED.

For people saying they are the experts at intl diplomacy, accusing another fairly powerful country of altering your election results is a serious insult without irrefutable evidence.
This is doing several things as all their schemes do. Obama getting back at putin for syria. Deflecting off crimimal charges for hillary and huma and obama. Deflecting off murder of whistleblower and actual leaker, Seth Rich. Deflecting off the truth contained in the dnc and hillary emails. Shifting off the massive security breaches of hillary and huma. Giving hillary cover she didnt lose election, it was stolen.
All of it total bs.

CNN reports that a federal judge squashed all hopes of a Clinton presidency once and for allMore great news for this Xmas Season!
I’m opening a quart bottle of ice cold Bailey’s Irish Cream and toasting to all these ‘squashed hopes’ of the slippery and scheming Clinton supporters. Absolutely too funny, hahaha. Merry Xmas everyone!
All of the progress in gun rights (and there’s been a lot) over the last quarter century, has been made at the state level. About the only help we’ve gotten from the feds, is when Congress has resisted new anti-gun legislation from the Dems.
The Judicial branch delivered on Heller vs DC, but the Executive branch hasn’t done squat to help us. Maybe that’ll change, now that we have a president who’s a gun rights advocate.
At the end of the day, though, the state legislatures are where all the action is. Mash on those critters in Albany.

Jill Stein’s recount effort was not only a huge scam and a testament to the swamp that must be immediately drained, but also a huge success in pushing stricter voter ID laws.
Yes, you read that correctly. Stein’s whole recount fiasco just caused the Michigan state legislature to buckle down and institute tougher laws when it comes to voting. They have now instituted tough voter ID laws in response to Jill’s plea for “fairer” elections.
She probably didn’t see that coming and instead expected to open up an opportunity for more fraud to take place (it’s already been confirmed that Soros is the reason for much of her fundraising success).
In the end though, the Michigan legislative body was smart enough to see through the nonsense, stating that the only reason the recount is even being pushed is because “Democratic lawmakers representing substantial black district populations are more

The FBI has already demonstrated its partisan bonafides when its Director James Comey unleashed his October Surprise in the form of his October 28, 2016 letter to U.S. congress, stating that the FBI would be reviewing newly discovered emails which could be pertinent to the July 2016 closed case without criminal charges, regarding Hillary Clinton’s email handling of classified material via her personal private server, while she served as secretary of state from 2009 to 2013. When the FBI Director acted in defiance of DOJ high level officials’ strong objections and the FBI’s own published regulations to not publicly disclose anything about an elected official while he/ she is under investigation, within 60 days of an election unless an indictment is imminent, he showed his true partisan colors. He penned this letter…
Today, December 8, 2016, the world marks 25th anniversary of the event the vast majority of the Russian World considers a tragic date. On December 8, 1991 leaders of three Slavic Soviet Republics, Russia, Belarus and Ukraine, called the Three Sisters, signed the infamous Belovezhskaya Pushcha Accords, which effectively dissolved the USSR, establishing instead the still-born Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS). The accords sanctified what Putin later called ‘the largest humanitarian catastrophe of the second half of the 20th century.’
The internet, Russian and post-Soviet media have been flooded with various videos and articles, which explain and judge, from their point of view, the events of that day. Many still try to come to terms and understand what happened; many have condemned this day and those who signed the breakup: Russian SSR head Boris Yeltsin, Ukrainian SSR head Shevchuk and Belorussian SSR head Shushkevich.

When logic is taught at all, it is usually handled in an abstract fashion. Students examine very simple patterns of reasoning and learn which patterns are correct and which are incorrect.
When analysis of realistic text is taught at all, it usually involves dissecting literature to find out what the author is “really trying to say.”
I wasn’t satisfied with either approach. So when I created my course (further details below), I changed the priorities. Students do learn something about abstract thinking—but they are also taught how the most important and destructive fallacies seep into news reports, PR releases, scientific journalism, editorials, and political arguments.
The core of the course consists of text passages that resemble the kind of information people encounter every day. These passages contain multiple logical errors, and with the help of the teacher, students root out the errors and…
The US sent a “planeload of FBI agents” to Iceland in 2011 to frame WikiLeaks and its co-founder Julian Assange, according to a former Icelandic minister of interior, who refused them any cooperation and asked them to cease their activities.
In June 2011, Obama administration implied to Iceland’s authorities they had knowledge of hackers wanting to destroy software systems in the country, and offered help, then-Interior Minister Ogmundur Jonasson, said in an interview with the Katoikos publication.
However, Jonasson said he instantly became “suspicious” of the US good intentions, “well aware that a helping hand might easily become a manipulating hand.”
Later in the summer 2011, the US “sent a planeload of FBI agents to Iceland seeking our cooperation in what I understood as an operation set up to frame Julian Assange and WikiLeaks,” Jonasson said.
Icelanders seemed like a tough nut to crack, though.
