Tell Schumer: Don’t Frack New York

Tell Schumer: Don’t Frack New York

Yesterday, Chuck Schumer, our Senator, went on national television and said he’d be OK with fracking upstate New York.

Across the state, people are fighting every day to keep big oil and gas companies from coming to New York and wrecking their communities.

Most New Yorkers don’t want fracking. And study after study continues to show how harmful it can be to our drinking water, to our health and to the environment.

We can’t afford to let elected leaders like Chuck Schumer ignore the real dangers hydrofracking presents. The stakes are too high.

Click on the link below to send Schumer a message now. Tell him he’s standing on the wrong side of history in this fight.

Or Write:

Dear Senator Schumer,

I was extremely troubled to hear about your comments in support of hydrofracking on yesterday’s “Morning Joe.”

Study after study continues to show that hydrofracking is harmful. It contaminates water supplies, it increases air pollution and it’s making people sick.

We need you to stand with the thousands of everyday people in New York who are fighting to keep big oil and gas companies from wrecking our communities.

We need you to lead New York into a real clean energy future, not double down on the failed energy policies of the past.

Don’t let New York get fracked.

Hydrofracking has no place in New York

New Yorkers deserve clean air, clean water and a healthy environment. That’s why this Earth Day, we’re continuing the fight against hydrofracking in New York. Will you fight with us? Right now, Governor Cuomo is accepting comments on his draft 2014 New York State Energy Plan. This plan is supposed to map out how New York will reduce greenhouse gas emissions 80% by 2050. But despite words about “clean” energy and colorful pictures of solar panels and wind farms, it leaves the door open to fracking in New York. Take a moment now to tell Governor Cuomo that natural gas expansion and hydrofracking has no place in New YorkClick here to submit your comment now! Hydrofracking pollutes water, lowers property values and will shatter our already fragile economy. A study by Ohio regulators recently linked hydrofracking to earthquakes in that state. An energy plan outlining New York’s green energy future must include a commitment to scaling back our use of natural gas and support a ban on hydrofracking. But this plan does neither. We don’t want fracking in our communities and this plan needs to reflect that. The deadline for submitting your comment is in just a few days, so act now and be sure to spread the word. Click here to tell Governor Cuomo that New York needs to lead on climate change with a real plan for the future that replaces fossil fuels with clean, renewable energy. Thanks for all you do,
