♪Work – Music Themes

This week Johnny has chosen “work” as the theme. I’d like to think we’re all “work-in-progress” and how we chose to interact with the world and each other consciously manifests the fruits of our labor. In other words, given the circumstances we still have the power to create our own reality. There are many facets of work, but to make it meaningful and give it direction, we must start with inner work. If we know who we are, then our path becomes clear. All work is noble given the right mindset.

As artists, ballet dancers are the ultimate extremists, every movement is a work of art, exquisite poetry in motion… perfection! Sylvie Guillem – Boléro  Sylvie Guillem with the Tokyo Ballet, Boléro by Maurice Ravel, Orchestre De Paris/Jean Martinon, choreography – Maurice Béjart. OMG how I LOVE this performance!

Thank you Bear for sharing this gorgeous performance from PROKOFIEV – Romeo et Juliette – Corps de ballet de l’Opéra National de Paris – “Montaigu et Capulet”, Symphony “danse des chevaliers” (n°13) Work it! 🙂

The hardest working Diva: Maria Callas “Mon coeur s’ouvre a ta voix” Samson et Dalila, Camille Saint-Saëns, Georges Pretre 1961

Why do some songs “work” while others languish? I Can’t Tell You Why – The Eagles

A few notable Japanese expressions about work: Korekaramo ganbatte kudasai – Keep up your good work. Gokuroosama – ご苦労様 Thanks for your hard work. Otsukaresama deshita お疲れ様でした Good work/ job! 私は働いている Watashi wa hataraite iru – I’m working!  職場での男性 Shokuba de no dansei – Men at Work – “Overkill”

My stay here in Japan has exceeded by wildest expectations, there is so much warmth, kindness, richness of culture. I couldn’t very well pass up the opportunity to sing in a Japanese Karaoke Club! My dear friend is preparing the video of my forthcoming “debut”, I’ll be sure to post it as soon as it’s ready lol. 😉  A hint: I chose Heart – Alone

The Japanese have a really strong work ethic, a nation of over-achievers, but they also know how to have fun! I was honored to be invited for a club opening in Kyoto. Mamasan is singing the Japanese classic “Season of change” while I help out a bit with my improvisational “dance”, hahaha – now be nice! 😀
