This week we’re gonna explore a fundamental, existential theme. What does “essential” mean to you? Since what’s essential to one person may not apply to another, the concept “essential” is as subjective as music itself.
With that being said, by default, the entire discography of Led Zeppelin is by (my) biased humble opinion – essential! Admittedly far from original consensus, but most applicable nevertheless.
Life is beautiful, music is a most wonderful expression of our heart, dreams, secret desires…
♪The sun has left and forgotten me
It’s dark, I cannot see
Why does this rain pour down
I’m gonna drown
In a sea
Of deep confusion♪
Sometimes a little faith goes a long way, essential to our well being – Hard Time Killin’ Floor Blues!
Our Collective Soul knows:
Has our conscience shown?
Has the sweet breeze blown?
Has all kindness gone?
Hope still lingers on.
I drink myself of newfound pity
Sitting alone in New York City
And I don’t know why.
Are we listening?
Hymns of offering.
Have we eyes to see?
Love is gathering.
All the words that I’ve been reading
Have now started the act of bleeding
Into one.
So I walk up on high
And I step to the edge
To see my world below.
And I laugh at myself
While the tears roll down.
‘Cause it’s the world I know.
It’s the world I know.
At times, artists need to strip down to the bare essentials: an empty church, a single microphone and the truth! Cowboy Junkies made history with The Trinity Session.
Love is eternal ♥♥♥ “Love Theme from Romeo and Juliet” written by Nino Rota & arranged by Henry Mancini
Perhaps we, as a people, should learn what’s really essential to be fully human – before death takes over!
O, Death
O, Death
Won’t you spare me over til another year
Well what is this that I can’t see
With ice cold hands takin’ hold of me
Well I am death, none can excel
I’ll open the door to heaven or hell
Whoa, death someone would pray
Could you wait to call me another day
The children prayed, the preacher preached
Time and mercy is out of your reach
I’ll fix your feet til you cant walk
I’ll lock your jaw til you cant talk
I’ll close your eyes so you can’t see
This very hour, come and go with me
I’m death I come to take the soul
Leave the body and leave it cold
To draw up the flesh off of the frame
Dirt and worm both have a claim
O, Death
O, Death
Won’t you spare me over til another year
My mother came to my bed
Placed a cold towel upon my head
My head is warm my feet are cold
Death is a-movin upon my soul
Oh, death how you’re treatin’ me
You’ve close my eyes so I can’t see
Well you’re hurtin’ my body
You make me cold
You run my life right outta my soul
Oh death please consider my age
Please don’t take me at this stage
My wealth is all at your command
If you will move your icy hand
Oh the young, the rich or poor
Hunger like me you know
No wealth, no ruin, no silver no gold
Nothing satisfies me but your soul
O, Death
O, Death
Wont you spare me over ’til another year
Wont you spare me over ’til another year
Wont you spare me over ’til another year
God bless us all, essential ONE♥
