Max, Stacey and guest Ben Aris, stationed in Moscow, discuss the following: How China surpassed US as world’s largest economy; debt ridden US and UK economies and their comparison to Germany and China, as well the lies of the UK government. And last but not least: the despair index shows that despite the ruble crisis, Russian feel more optimistic and satisfied than Europeans, and until recently, more so than Americans. About 75% of Russians, including the poorest 1/2 of the country, feel satisfied with their lives, with very low unemployment, access to money for entertainment/cars/home improvement, lower povery levels than EU and US, and overall decent living standards. Less travel than before and higher inflation are direct results of Western sanctions and deliberate attack on the ruble, which upped the index value somewhat. But even with these two factors accounted for, it is concluded that Russia is a better place…
